TankChair! A Powerchair for off road!

A picture tells a thousand words here!

The owner of the company Soden Gang that is currently designing this chair contacted me recently to see if I was interested in testing one of these Powerchairs!  Well what would you say!  I cant wait!

He is interested in quality feedback from me (and 5 other people in a similar position to myself) and is prepared to ship me a chair from the US to get it.

That's what you call commitment!  He is keen to see a finished version out and about helping people to get back to nature in a way that no other chair can!

This one (pictured) is just the proof of concept "learning" PowerChair that he first built to allow his wife to get into the fields and woods so she didn't miss out.

The next ones are far more seriously designed with a view to production. They will be ready in 3 to 4 months with much money spent on the project so far.

They will be pre production prototypes for test with various different chassis and parts for evaluation by myself and the other 5 guys (gals? I don't know!)

They apparently are smaller with far lower seats.  The base is now 30 inches wide rather than the huge 42 of the one in the photos.  The seat is self levelling so people like me that are paralysed from the chest down are able to go up steep slopes, and down, with no fear of falling out and low enough to transfer with a board.

I must say I can't really see how this would fit in with my concrete jungle town life, but we will see!  Can you imagine that chair in a shopping centre, or in the pub!  I suppose I will need to get out in the countryside to really test it but I am not sure if it will fit into my van yet?  Looking at it it may be a close fit!  Especially height wise.  My head hits the ceiling with my current PowerChair.  I t would be good though when flying my model aircraft on grassy fields and muddy ground!
